- 3/4 cup sugar
- Dash of salt
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups milk
- 2-4 bananas, sliced
- 15 vanilla wafers
- Combine sugar, salt and flour
- Add to egg yolks and vanilla
- Heat milk in saucepan and slowly add egg mixture
- Cook until thick
- Arrange wafers and bananas in a shallow 1 1/2-quart baking dish
- Add pudding
MERINGUE:- 3 egg whites
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- To make meringue, beat egg whites, sugar and vanilla until very stiff
- Spread over pudding and bake at 400° until golden brown
- Serve warm or cold
