Product Substitutions Chart

Allspice
Mix cinnamon and ground cloves as a 50/50 mixture.

Baking Powder - To Make 1 Teaspoon. Use 1/3 Teaspoon baking soda and 5/8 Teaspoon cream of tartar.

Bay Leaf - To Equal 1 whole leaf use 1/4 Teaspoon crushed.

Brown Sugar - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup sugar plus 1 Teaspoon molasses.

Butter - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup margarine, 7/8 cup shortening and 1/2 Teaspoon salt.

Chives - To Make 2 Teaspoons. Use 2 Teaspoon green onion tops finely chopped

Carob - To Make 3 Tablespoons. Use 3 Tablespoons cocoa and 1 Tablespoon shortening.

Coconut Cream - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup whipping cream

Coconut Milk - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup whole or 2% milk

Corn Syrup - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup liquid and 1 cup honey

Cornstarch - To Make 1 Tablespoon. Use 2 Tablespoon all-purpose flour

Cream, Heavy - To Make 1 cup. Use 3/4 cup milk and 1/3 cup butter or margarine (only for use in cooking and baking)

Cream, Light - To Make 1 cup. Use 3/4 cup milk and 3 Tablespoon Butter or margarine (only for use in cooking and baking), or 1 cup evaporated milk

Egg - To Make 1 whole. Use 2 1/2 Tablespoon sifted dry whole egg powder

Egg White - To Make 1 white. Use 2 Teaspoon sifted dry egg white powder with 2 Tablespoon water

Flour (for thickening) - To Make 1 Tablespoon. Use 1 1/2 Teaspoon cornstarch, arrowroot starch, potato starch or rice starch. 1 Tablespoon granular tapioca, rice flour, corn flour. 1 1/2 Tablespoon whole wheat flour

Flour, All Purpose - To Make 1 cup sifted. Use 1 cup and 2 Tablespoon cake flour, 1 cup minus 2 Tablespoon un-sifted all-purpose flour, 1 cup rice flour

Flour, Cake - To Make 1 cup sifted. Use 1 cup minus 2 Tablespoon all purpose flour

Flour, Self Rising - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 cup minus 2 Teaspoon all purpose flour and 1 1/2 Teaspoon baking powder and 1/2 Teaspoon salt

Flour, Whole Wheat - To Make. Use Substitute whole wheat flour for 1/4 to 1/2 of white flour called for in recipe

Garlic - To Make 1 clove. Use 1/8 - 1/4 Teaspoon garlic powder

Honey - To Make 1 cup. Use 1 1/4 cup sugar with 1/4 cup water

Italian Seasonings - To Make 1-1/2 Teaspoon. Use 1/4 Teaspoon each dried marjoram, oregano plus basil plus 1/8 Teaspoon sage
